Our high-quality speciality coffee is for home brewing. We aim to provide you with the best sustainable coffee in Germany so that you can replicate the coffee shop experience in the comfort of your home and improve your brewing skills.

We work with small artisanal coffee roasters in Germany, who roast our specialty coffee to perfection. We offer three different coffees:

  • La Tierra Coffee:  Light-medium roast.  La Tierra coffee is fruity and exotic, with a pleasant acidity, like biting into a fresh piece of fruit. – Best coffee for french press, V60 and filter, but it also works for a milder espresso.
  • El Cielo Coffee:  Light medium roast – El Cielo Coffe is elegant and balanced, with a smooth sweetness.- Best coffee for french press and filter but it also works for a milder espresso.

El Cielo Dark Coffee:  Dark roast – This is a classic “Italian espresso” with a bold, intense flavor profile. – Best coffee beans for a stronger espresso

FAQs

Coffee Farms

Where are Café del Cielo’s sustainable coffee farms located?

We produce our specialty coffee beans ethically in our family-owned small coffee farms, La Tierra and El Cielo, which are situated at 1800 m high in the Filandia Quindío region of the Colombian Andes.

Our sustainable coffee is produced in volcanic rich soil and the unique high-altitude location creates the ideal conditions for producing our exceptional coffee quality.

FAQs

Cultivation & Production

Where is your specialty coffee grown?

Our coffee is cultivated on our farms La Tierra (1,600m) and El Cielo (1,800m) in the Colombian Andes.

We grow Variedad Castillo, Catimor, Tabi Variedad, and Sudan Rume—all of which are known for their resilience against plant diseases.

“Regeneration goes far beyond sustainability.” While sustainability focuses on minimizing harm, regeneration involves protecting, restoring, and replenishing both human capital and natural resources. Our farming practices include biodiversity, polyculture, and agroforestry to nurture the environment and create a more sustainable coffee future.

FAQs

Coffee

What makes Café del Cielo’s specialty coffee different from others in Europe?

Café del Cielo produces, imports, and sells its own coffee directly to customers in Europe—without intermediaries. This direct-trade model allows us to practice regenerative agriculture, protecting ecosystems and promoting biodiversity. Additionally, we pay our farm workers fair wages, including healthcare, pensions, and paid leave, which is not common in the Colombian coffee industry.

The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) defines quality standards for coffee. A SCA standard is a scientifically tested and measurable recommendation that sets quality benchmarks for water, green coffee, cupping, and brewing. More details can be found here.

Café del Cielo specialty coffee is rated 85+, which is classified as “excellent”.

Each harvest produces distinct flavor profiles, creating a dynamic and ever-changing taste experience.

The flavors are identified during the cupping. This process is conducted by a professional coffee grader, a kind of coffee sommelier. Very much like wine, those are the aromas and flavors perceived during the cupping and that will represent the character of that particular harvest.

You may be able to recognize those if you try drinking the coffee without milk and sugar and when it has cooled down a bit.

Yes! We include the roast date on every batch. We recommend consuming the coffee within three months of roasting. If you roast your own coffee, we suggest waiting 10 days after roasting before consumption.

Our coffee has a shelf life of at least one year, but over time, some aromas fade—so enjoy it while it’s at its best!

Yes! You can order them via our online shop or by contacting us at b2b@delcielofarm.com.

Yes, although we recommend freshly grinding your beans before the preparation, we understand that you may not own a grinder, therefore you can choose your preparation method during check out. If you need different methods, please feel free to add any details in the notes. And our team highly recommend to get your own grinder as it really makes a difference and increases your coffee experience.

FAQs

ROASTING

What roasting method do you use and why?

We use the Omni Roast method.

This roasting technique has gained popularity in recent years. It is a slow roasting process that reduces the coffee’s acidity while enhancing its body and flavor. This method also makes the coffee more soluble, allowing it to be ground for both filter coffee and espresso preparation.

It’s all about consciously celebrating the art of coffee preparation.

Our coffee can be used for both filter brewing and espresso preparation.

FAQs

Sustainability (SDGs)

Which UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are part of Café del Cielo’s company philosophy?

We align with the following UN Agenda 2030 goals:

  • No. 1 – No Poverty
  • No. 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • No. 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production

No. 15 – Life on Land

We follow the principles of regenerative agriculture, meaning we prioritize ecosystem and soil health and sustainability in production. Additionally, by cutting out middlemen through direct trade, we significantly shorten the supply chain.

Not currently, and we want to be transparent about why.

Certifications come from meaningful intentions and increase transparency, but they don’t solve the root problem. Café del Cielo already ensures fair wages, pensions, insurance, and healthcare for our employees—something that’s far from standard in Colombia. However, certifications are costly, especially for a small social business like ours.

Through regenerative agriculture, we protect the ecosystem while enabling farmers to sell their coffee independently of cooperatives. This creates a stable, long-term income source.

By controlling production, supply chain, and distribution ourselves, we can pay fair wages, including healthcare, pensions, and paid leave. Seasonal workers also receive 20% above the minimum wage.

Current situation in Colombia (Coffee Barometer 2023)

In 2021, we conducted our first carbon footprint analysis with CFT, which showed that we absorbed more CO₂ than we produced. We are currently conducting a new analysis.

Not yet—but we’re working on a concept to make it possible in the future!

Direct trade is a sourcing model used by coffee roasters, chocolate producers, tea merchants, and other industries that build direct relationships with farmers, miners, or processors.

At Café del Cielo, we practice direct trade by managing our own supply chain, ensuring transparency, fair wages, and sustainable farming practices.
